Lectures online
Pre-record your lecture with the Studio tool in Canvas
If you have time and possibility, you can record parts of or your lecture in full in Canvas. The Studio tool allows you to record yourself, your screen/presentation or a combination of the two.
One tip is to record shorter videos of maximum 5 minutes where you for example can explain a certain concept or slide in your PowerPoint presentation.
Once you are done with your recording(s) you can easily add them to a page, quiz, discussion or assignment on your course page in Canvas. You also have the possibility to reuse the same video clip on several courses, if you wish to do so.
If you are interested in doing a professional recording in a video studio, please contact us on canvas@education.lu.se

Lecture within an eMeeting
By using one of our resources for e-meetings, you can convert your planned physical lecture to a digital one with ease. During an e-meeting or video conference it is possible for attendees to see and speak to each other if they wish to do so, show a PowerPoint presentation and even collaborate on a text document.
The meeting can be recorded by the person who has arranged it, in order for it to be shared to students who might not have the possibility to attend. If you plan to record such a meeting, please make sure that you always ask for student's permissions before you start.
Lecture via Zoom
In Zoom you can carry out a lecture where you share your presentation or screen with your students. As the host of the event you have the option to record it.
If you wish to share such recording with your students through their course page in Canvas, you need to start by downloading it from Zoom and then uploading it to Studio in Canvas.
Please note that Zoom is an external tool outside of Canvas, but can be reached with your LUCAT-id through the link below. Your students can attend the lecture by a simple link, which you need to send to them.
Notera att Zoom inte finns i Canvas utan du loggar in här, skapar enkelt ditt möte och bjuder sedan in dina studenter med en länk (postad t ex i Canvas).

Lecture via Conferences
Unfortunately Conferences low capacity for eMeetings has made it nearly impossible to start meetings. Our recommendation at the moment is to use Zoom or Teams.
If you have your course in Canvas, you can use the Conference tool to connect to your students and lecture live. As soon as you set it up, all students are automatically invited. The tool will give you the option to record the session, which very easily can be shared with the student group. But in comparison to other tools the video recording of conferences is temporary (lasts 2 weeks).
Attention! You might need to activate Conference in your course menu in order to make it visible.
