Listening to course litterature with Tortalk
Tortalk is a text-to-speech software that makes it possible to listen to literature that is available electronically. The program is compatible with many electronic documents, such as word and e-books. A difference between Tortalk and Ally is that you don't need to download course contents to your computer before you can listen to them. Tortalk only has the text-to-speech function and combines well with Ally's alternative formats
All students at Lund Univerity have the opportunity to download Tortalk. It is not only for students for reading and writing disabilities, but is a support for everyone. For example you can use Tortalk if you find that you learn better from listening to texts rather than reading. It can even be used to proofread your own texts to find any spelling mistakes or other errors. An advantage of using Tortalk is that you can change the speed of the reading and adjust it to your own preference. In the basic version there is both Swedish and English reading voices, but there are also other languages you can download additionally.
