Finding and Submitting your Work
Finding your Assignments
There are different places in the canvas system where you may find the assignments you have been given. Where you find them depends on how your teacher has organised the course.
1. Via 'Assignments' in the course menu you can see all published assignments.
Submitting an Assignment
1. When starting an assignment you will be given some practical information that you should read through:
- Due is the date you are expected to submit your work.
- Points is the average score of submissions calculated by Canvas. The average has no impact on the grading at Swedish universities so you may just overlook this number.
- File types indicates which file formats will be accepted for submissions, such as doc or pdf.
- Availability indicates a date in which your assignment may still be submitted after the due date for a late submission. Assignments will no longer be able to submitted via Canvas after the availability date.
- After you have read all of the information you may submit your work by clicking on "Submit Assignment".
2. After clicking on Submit Assignment you will be brought further down the page where you will complete your submission. To submit a normal file, click on 'Browse' and then select the file you wish to submit.
At this point there may be more tabs if your teacher has added more then one type of material for submission. Observe that you can not submit several different types of materials at once. You can still submit more than one file for a submission by simply clicking on '+ Add another file' for each individual material.
3. When you have added all the materials you wish to submit you can choose to add a comment if you want to then click on 'Submit assignment'.
4. When you have submitted your work you will see a confirmation on the top right showing your work was successfully submitted. If you realise you have submitted the wrong file you can always submit the assignment again; you cannot delete any prior submissions. Your work may be resubmitted until the submission expires past the availability date.
Submitting a Group Assignment
Submitting a group assignment works the same as submitting regular assignments. One person from the group submits the work, but it will be counted as if everybody in the group has submitted the work. You will see a confirmation box informing you about a submitted group assignment
The comments section can be used in case there is any information you need to communicate to the teacher regarding the submission, i.e someone in the group being unable to participate. When you have submitted the assignment everybody in the group will be able to have access to the work through your shared group page.
Finding Old Submissions
1. Click on the Account tab in the Canvas menu.
2. Select Files.
3. In the folder 'Submissions' you will find prior submissions from all courses you are currently participating in or have been in previously.
