Sharing Your Recorded Meeting with Canvas Studio
The function "Record" in Zoom can be used for recording both meetings and lectures.
-
Consent for Recording
If you plan to record a meeting, it is important that the participants are prepared and give their consent. Most appropriate is to mention this in the beginning of the meeting. If a participant absolutely does not want to be seen or heard, that participant can turn off the camera and microphone, and use the chat to communicate. When the recording starts, a voice message will announce that the meeting is being recorded, and the participants will be posted the question to either give consent and stay or leave the meeting (see the picture below).

Recording
To start recording, click on the button "Record" in the meeting toolbar.
-
When the recording has started, you can do the following:
1. Pause the recording by clicking on the button "Pause". You can pause several times during the same recording.
2. Click on "Resume" to resume the paused recording.
3. By clicking on "Stop Recording" you end the recording.
-
Things to Consider while Recording
It is your active window in Zoom that will be recorded. This means that if you are for instance sharing screen to show a PowerPoint presentation, this will be the window shown on the recording.
Take notice that the chat is not visible on the recording. You might have to read out loud what is written in the chat in order for this to be recorded.
If you are using breakout rooms, it is the main session (which probably is empty) that will be recorded. Hence, you might want to pause and resume the recording after the participants have returned to the main session.
When you have ended your Zoom meeting, your recording will be converted and saved on your own computer as an mp4 file. Thereafter you can upload the recording to Canvas using Studio.
N.B. Do not stop the converting process, otherwise your recording will be lost.
