Analytical calculation framework for the Levelized cost of Green Hydrogen in different structures and locations in Europe

Background of the project
The Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) is a crucial metric for evaluating the economic viability of hydrogen production technologies across different regions. This project aims to perform an analytical calculation of the LCOH in various production structures—such as centralized and decentralized hydrogen production systems—and across diverse locations in Europe. By considering factors like renewable energy availability, infrastructure, and local energy policies, the project seeks to provide insights into how geographical and structural variations impact the cost of hydrogen. The analysis will help identify optimal locations and systems for cost-effective hydrogen production, contributing to Europe's clean energy transition and hydrogen economy.
Tasks
- Develop a comprehensive map of solar, wind, hydropower resources, clean energy subsidies, and electricity grid infrastructure for selected European countries.
- Design an analytical LCOH calculator tailored to different electrolysis technologies and system configurations with the help or not of an electrical storage (battery).
- Provide location-specific recommendations for hydrogen production installations based on the analysis results.
- (If two people contribute to the project.) Implement machine learning techniques like neural networks to streamline data analysis and enhance the process's efficiency.
