Your academic identity

In this module we will address academic identity in a wider sense, but look more specifically the “teacher” part of your academic identity.

The focus will be on you as an individual and as an individual within a group of colleagues*. You will be encouraged to explore ideas about academic identity and academic teacher identity, and we’ll look at ways in which you can think about your own identity as you develop both as an academic in general and as an academic teacher.

The module consists of three main sections and a short wrap-up:

1. 1. Your academic identity
   2. Recognizing and developing the teacher part of your academic identity
   3. Developing your academic teacher identity in a collegial context
   4. Wrapping up and moving on

Each section consists of a short video, which addresses the topic of academic teacher identity, followed by reflection tasks and suggested further readings.

There is an idea of progression between the sections, moving from looking at your academic identity in general towards recognizing and developing the teacher part of your academic identity, first as an individual and after that as an individual within your collegial context.
