A case

In this part, we would like you to reflect upon a specific case that concerns rules and regulations and the way they might sometimes clash with reality or with our own conceptions of good teaching practice. How do we make choices when faced with difficult situations?

Case: Lisa and her student Anders

Anders and Lisa are talking about Anders' problem with the assessment

Lisa is thinking about Anders' problem. What should she do?

Summary of the case: Anders suffers from anxiety and asks if he can be excused from the oral presentation in Lisa's course. Lisa says she understands the problem but team-working skills is one of the learning outcomes and it is assessed through the group oral presentation. Anders responds that he is not sure he will be able to go through with the course if that is the case. Lisa wants to help Anders but needs to assess in a way that is fair and proper and also consider her own workload. What should she do?
