Policies, regulations and guidelines

In order to form an informed understanding of the context in which you practice – and as a basis for your reflections – we suggest you first screen for local documents, policies and guidelines concerning an area that is relevant for you in your current situation and academic role. Some suggestions are documents regulating:

    • Curricula, program and course descriptions.
    • Inclusion and equality
    • Internationalization
    • Student influence: handling of course evaluations and student complaints
    • Handling of breaches of academic conduct, harassment etc
    • Assessment and feedback requirements in courses and programmes
    • The teaching and learning of generic competencies/skills – what preparing students for a supercomplex world (Barnett, 1997) means for a certain discipline

Not all universities or faculties have policies or guidelines for all of these themes. When they do, they are sometimes published on university/faculty/department web pages or on the departmental intranet. If you have trouble finding the specific item you are looking for, you can for example turn to the director of study at your department for help to locate it.
