Analysis in Several Variables 1

General Information

Analysis in Several Variables 1 with course code MATB21 is a compulsory course for a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and in physics. Also, the course is part of the teacher education course ÄMAD02, Mathematics with Mathematical Didactics 2.

The course treats functions of several variables where continuity and basic topology in R^n are discussed, differential calculus for such functions covering partial derivatives, differentiability, the chain rule, gradient, directional derivative, Taylor's formula and extreme values and integral calculus treating multiple integrals, substitution of variables, differentiation under integral signs and improper integrals.

Teaching
The teaching consists of lectures and seminars. The lecturer is Elsa Ghandour, seminar teachers are Daniele Gerosa and Bartosz Malman. A programming project is included in the course MATB21. The project is lead by Lea Miko Versbach and Peter Meisrimel.

Assessment
The module is assessed through a written examination and a presentation of the project for MATB21.
