Physics: Semiconductor Physics - FYST78/FFFN30/FFF021F

Welcome to the Canvas information page for the course

Semiconductor Physics, 7.5 credits

given by the Department of Physics.

Please note: This page contains only general information about the course. It does not contain any course material. If you are a student on the course you have to log in to the Canvas portal in the site navigation to find the courses of your programme.

Contents

This course aims to extend the material covered in the basic courses in Solid State Physics, Electronic Materials and Device Physics and provide a broader and deeper understanding of the physics of today's semiconductor devices. This includes discussions on the materials properties and physical principles underlying fundamental devices such as diodes, bipolar transistors and metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors, so called MOSFETs.

The course is given by the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) and follows the LTH study period and examination schedule.

General information

Course literature

The course book will be Semiconductor Devices: Physics and Technology, 3rd Edition, International student version, by Simon M. Sze, Ming-Kwei Lee. This book is generally expensive in online shops but can be bought at the campus bookstore KFS in Lund (www.kfsab.se)

The 2nd edition may also be used with minor inconvenience. Most chapters are not significantly changed between the 2nd and 3rd edition.
