What does Ally mean for you as a teacher?
Improve the usability and accessibility of your content
Your course consists of different participants with unique learning abilities. If you provide your participants with more accessible original content, they can choose the format that suits them the best. For example: HTML to make the text easier to read on mobile phones, electronic braille for visually impaired participants and audio for learning on the go. Ally automatically scans your original content an performs a series of steps to make it more accessible.
- Generates alternative formats that participants can download
- Shows accessibility indicators
- Provides teachers feedback on how you can improve your accessibility score
Self-produced material
Remember that you are only responsible for the documents and files that you create yourself. When it comes to scientific articles, for example, it is the publishers who are responsible for the articles' accessibility, not you.
Accessibility score
The accessibility of the files attached to the course is measured and you get a quick overview of the accessibility via the accessibility score indicators. The score ranges from low to perfect. The higher the score, the fewer the problems.
Note! Students cannot see the accessibility indicators. Only you the teacher can see that!
- Low (Red): the file is not accessible and must be fixed immediately.
- Medium (Orange): the file is somewhat accessible, but it would be nice if it was improved
- High (Light Green): the file is accessibility-adapted, but there is still room for improvement
- Perfect (Green): The file is accessibility-adapted. No improvement is needed.
For files with low to high results, the current issues are displayed and you get simple advice on how to fix it.
