Do it right from the start - new templates at LU

New document templates should meet accessibility requirements

Lund University's image bank contains accessibility-adapted Word templates and a selection of accessibility-adapted InDesign templates with instructions included.

The Word templates are available in two versions - an accessibility-adapted version for digital documents and another version used for printing. Both of these versions are included in the download. Also included are instructions for working with the template, as well as instructions for checking and adjusting exported PDF files in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Currently, the instructions are only available in Swedish, but instructions in English are in progress.

You can download these templates and instructions at the image bank under the tab "Templates and graphics" (use your Lucat ID to log in).

Remember to check accessibility

It is important to keep in mind that accessibility adapted document templates are not inherently the same as accessibility assured documents. It is still possible for there to be mistakes, such as forgetting to create alternative texts for pictures, or making an incorrect heading structure. Therefore, always make sure that you perform an accessibility check of your document before publishing it on a website. PDF files can be checked in Adobe Acrobat Pro, here you must perform an automatic and manual check of the accessibility. Word documents can be checked via the built-in accessibility features available in Word.
