Before getting on the train, or bus, or whichever method of transport you have chosen to take you to Lund University, you should be ready with a few practical matters, such as your study plan.

Study plan

Your application must include a realistic study plan.

Studies at Lund University are usually performed one course at a time, with an examination or essay at the end of each individual course finalising the course. Your courses can be anything from 2 to 20 weeks long, with 5, 10 and 20 weeks being the most common ranges. The duration and extent of courses and programmes are expressed in a system of credits (högskolepoäng). The Swedish credit system is the same as the European ECTS credits. Thus, one week of full-time study corresponds to 1.5 credits. One semester of full-time study is equal to 30 credits. Single subject courses vary in length from 7.5 to 60 credits.

Check schedules

It is your own responsibility to make sure that your courses do not clash. The best way to do so is to use the Schedule Generator .

Select search option "Course” or “Course part”

Click on the course code in the search results and then "Show Schedule"
In the schedule view, you can choose to customize the view via "Customize" in the upper right.
You can also choose several courses at the same time to check any schedule clashes

Change courses

There is no add and drop period at Lund University which means that there is a very limited possibility to change courses that you have been admitted to. If you have to change your courses, you have to contact your coordinators at Lund University for permission and assistance.

Course registration

Most departments will ask you to register for your course in the Lund University student portal.

You can only register, when the registration period is open.

If you are conditionally admitted you will not be able to register. If you cannot register you must contact your coordinator as soon as possible.

We recommend that you use a computer when you register, as problems have arisen from registration via tablets and mobile phones.

Registration: Step by step

Log in to your student portal with your student account.
Choose "LADOK" and then "Current education".
Continue to "Upcoming" where you see all courses you are admitted to.
Choose "Register" to register to courses.
A small information window will open, read the information and choose "Register me".
Now you are registered and will find the courses listed under "Current".

All students must attend the introductory meetings to complete enrolment. If you have to miss the mandatory introductory meeting, please contact your coordinator in advance so that they know when to expect you and can ensure that your place in the programme is kept.
