Course format
What can I expect from the course?
This course will give you a solid introduction to Automatic Control. The course consists of a set of lectures, webinars, exercises, labs and an examination.
In addition to being available for hard copy purchase at the KFS campus book store, all written course material can be downloaded free of charge from the Course Material page.
The course program, with collected information about the course, can be found here.
Lectures
The lectures will be pre-recorded and posted on-line on the corresponding lecture page.
Webinars
During a webinar, the material from the latest lecture is discussed. The webinars are held via
zoom and led by an exercise leader.
Exercises
The exercises will be performed remotely during the first two weeks. A decision about the format for the following weeks will be taken later. Schedule and zoom links are given under "Exercise schedule" below.
Discussions
As an alternative or complement to the ordinary exercise sessions, we will offer the Discussions section at Canvas for discussing exercises and other course content. You are encouraged to answer your classmates questions on the Discussions page.
Labs
The course contains three labs that will be conducted on-campus, see the corresponding page for more information on each lab. You will need to book times for your lab-session ahead of time, and for lab sessions 2 and 3 you are expected to hand in preparatory exercises.
You are expected to hand in your preparatory exercises 8:00 am 4 working days ahead of your booked session. Someone from the teaching staff will then correct your hand-in. If they say something needs to be corrected, you have until 8:00 am 2 working days ahead of your booked lab session to do so.
Persons who fail to show up to the lab without a valid reason, forget to sign up for the lab, or fail to submit preparatory exercises, will have to do the lab the next time the course is given. Fortunately this is usually in the next study period.
Important: If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 (see symptom list in Swedish or English) at the time of your booked laboratory session, you must not attend it. In this case, contact the lab responsible by e-mail as soon as possible, and we will find a new time for you to perform the laboratory exercise.
The lab format will be adapted to the Covid-19 situation. The number of students attending each lab session will be limited to 12, and each student will use a separate computer which are at some distance from each other. The session will be instructed from the front of the room by the lab assistants. With these measures, the recommended physical distance should be possible to maintain. Face masks and hand sanitizer will be provided and must be used by everyone in the lab. Note that these measures in no way is a replacement for staying at home if you have symptoms or keeping a distance to others. If you despite these measures do not feel safe attending the lab sessions, please contact the lab responsible, and we will try to find an alternative way for you to pass this part of the course.
