Course Introduction
Welcome to the course "An Introduction to MATLAB for Courses in Mathematical Statistics"!
To attend this course, no previous knowledge is assumed of either programming or mathematical statistics, we start learning MATLAB from the absolute beginning! This means that the course is suitable for anyone, who wants to learn MATLAB. If you have some previous experience but would like to get a solid working knowledge, then this course is also the right place for you!
The course is characterized by having a head-on approach. I cover topics which you most likely will encounter and do it without any unnecessary detours. In numbers: there are 44 videos, with each video being approximately 2.5 minutes.
To really learn MATLAB, you must practice! To encourage practice, the first file in each new chapter is called "MATLAB Script" and contains the code from each video. Experiment with the code and if you don’t fully understand something read the documentation, which in MATLAB is very good.
For those who wish to learn more, some suggestions are:
1. An Introduction to MATLAB by Griffiths (48 pages): Downloaded here. Download Downloaded here.
2. MATLAB Primer by MathWorks (202 pages): Donwloaded here. Download Donwloaded here.
3. MATLAB primer by Davis (214 pages): Online access for Lund University students
I would especially like to thank Lena Zetterqvist and Johan Lindström for valuable discussions in the planning phase and for providing me with tips and feedback throughout the work.
Despite me double checking everything a couple of times, errors might still exist. If you find any errors, you are welcome to contact me at: antonio.ek@hotmail.se
