Grading scheme and deadlines
Grades
Home assignments and projects are graded according to the following scheme:
1 point: failed, not acceptable
2 points: acceptable, just above the acceptance limit, a very minimalistic solution
3 points: good solution, though not 100% correct
4 points: perfect and complete solution of the task
5 points: outstanding, beyond expectations; the solution goes beyond the assigned task
Half-points are also possible in borderline cases. A zero indicates that assignment was not submitted.
Note that the top grade (5) is reserved for outstanding solutions.
Home assignments constitute 50% of the final grade (a non-submitted assignment counts as 0), and the project constitutes another 50%. Students can use the "Grades" section in Canvas to track their total grade status.
Deadlines
- Every teacher will set the deadline of their homework according to their judgement of how much time it is required to complete the homework.
- For homework handed in before the deadline
- The student may have a chance to improve their grade based on the teacher's requests.
- For homework handed in past the deadline (late hand in)
- It can never be graded 5
- The student will not get a chance to improve their grade.
