Why?
Why should I use video in my teaching? you maybe ask yourself. For what reason, and what are the advantages?
Initially, it may seem difficult to get started with video, and we can't hide the fact that it takes some time to record and edit video, especially in the beginning. But learning to use video in your teaching is great fun and enriching for you and your students. And the pedagogical advantages are plenty!

The pedagogical model of flipped classroom is one of the reasons why the use of video in teaching has increased. The idea is to swap the activities from the traditional way of teaching. When students take part of the lecture (in the form of short video clips) at home, time spent in the classroom can be used more effectively. Flipped classroom takes some time and is often done during course development. Time spent on course development using this model pays off through more motivated and engaged students with better results. The main pedagogical advantages are:
Student learning increases. Students enter the classroom better prepared, and the time spent in the classroom can be used for discussing and reflecting upon the topic of the lecture; for question and answer sessions; for PBL-discussions; or for advanced assignments. Different forms of collaborative learning increase critical thinking and result in deep learning.
Studentent engagement increases. An increased participation in the classroom has been observed, and a higher degree of active contribution in the course as a whole. More motivation, in short.
Inclusion and accessibility increase. Students can choose when and where to consume the lecture/video. Video gives the possibility to pause, rewind, and repeat; something that is not as easily done in traditional lectures. All students benefit from this, of course, but above all students with hearing impairments, dyslexia, or neuropsychiatric disabilities.
