Students: Entering the meeting room

Students and participants can enter the meeting room once you have started the meeting. The following is an illustration of the student view.

To join a meeting students need to go to Conferences on the course menu, locate the meeting in question and click join. You can see an illustration of this in the screen shot below:

Speak or just listen?

When entering a meeting participants can choose between activating your microphone or listen only. Please note that it can be convenient to inform you students beforehand how you plan to communicate in the meeting.

If participants are expected to contribute to the meeting by voice and thus need to use their microphone, they will be asked to allow this in their browser. A pop-up window will open where they will need to click "allow/tillåt", as you can see here:

After a quick sound check, students can join the meeting. They have the option to turn on video if you have asked them to do so.

In order to get everyone comfortable with interacting online, you could structure your first interactions to only include participation by text using the chatt function and the following sessions using the microphone.

In the screen shot below you can see the different options you have during the meeting. To the left, in the navigation tree, there is a public chatt where everyone can participate. There is also a tool where you can collaborate on an empty document i.e. for taking notes or writing up topics or questions that you would like to follow up on.
