Zoom has gathered a couple of functions for security in one place in order to make it easier for you as a host to access in order to make your meeting safe for you and your participant. Here you can disable functions that can be used in a case of Zoombombing, sharing unwanted images with the screen function or writing in the chat. This is also where you will find the Remove Participant function.

You will this collection in the shield button in your zoom window when you have started your meeting. This button is only visible for you as a host or co-host.

Lock your meeting

When checking the alternative Lock Meeting, you prevent new participants joining the meeting. Please the note that you do this when all your expected participants are in place. You also prevent your participants inviting others.

Create a waiting room

The function Enable Waiting Room enables you to add participants one at a time when the meeting starts up. To see the list of people in the waiting room follow these steps. Please not that the waiting room only works if you really know the participants.

Click on Participants in the menu of the zoom-window. In the list that opens you can

Send messages to everyone in the waiting room - for instance that the meeting will soon start.
Click on the button Admit to let your participant join.

What may your participants do in your meeting?

The lower part of the dialogue window for security in zoom is about what your participants may do in your meeting. Here you can decide if they may

Share screen. This should be unchecked in order to prevent even accidental sharing from the participants in the meeting.
Chat - turn this off if you have a public meeting.
- If your meeting is within a known network, you can tailor the chatt function instead. Decide how they may chat in your meeting by working with the chat settings (three dots within the chat window). Here you can decide if they are allowed to chat with the host only, with everyone in the meeting or if they also are allowed to have a private conversation together.
Rename themselves. If you have a lot of participants this might be good to leave unchecked so that a participant not invited can hide under false name.
Annotation - turn this off in order to prevent participants to annotate text or draw images when you share your screen.

Remove partipant

If you want to remove a participant both you as a host and the co-host may do this by clicking on the security shield, get a list of the participants, click remove. The participant can not reenter after beeing removed.
