Creating Safe Meeting Spaces for You and Your Students/Colleagues at LU
In order to prevent other participants than those you expect to join your meeting, you can create a meeting for authenticated users only. Authenticated users are those who have logged in to Zoom using their LUCAT-id. This is how you create a meeting for authenticated users only:
Go to https://lu-se.zoom.us/ Links to an external site. and log in to LU Zoom by clicking on "Sign in".
-
Once you have logged in, do the following:
1. Click on "Meetings" in the left menu.
2. Click on "Schedule a meeting".
-
Fill out "Topic", "Description", time etc. as you would do when scheduling a regular meeting. Read more about how to do this on the page Creating Meetings and Inviting Participants.
Scroll down to the section "Security":
1. Check the box "Require authentication to join".
2. Choose the alternative "LU employees and students" in the drop-down menu underneath.
-
When you are done, click on the save button.
-
Students and employees at Lund University who have installed the Zoom desktop client, and have logged in, will not notice anything if this security setting is activated. These participants will be able to join the meeting directly using the invite link.
For those who have not logged in to Zoom will have to do this. Go to https://lu-se.zoom.us/ Links to an external site., click on "Sign in", and log in using your LUCAT-id. Once you have successfully logged in you can use the invite link to join the meeting.
Students and employees at LU - that have logged in correctly - will bypass the waiting room unless your personal settings override this pre-set.
N.B. Participants from outside of Lund university (external participants) will not be able to join the meeting if the security option "Require authentication to join" is activated as described above. If you expect external participants to join your meeting, the best security option is to set up a meeting with a passcode.
