Before you start
Holding a lecture or teaching in an e-meeting does not have to be so difficult. Once you have taken part in a few of these, it is common to feel that you are actually sitting and talking in the same room. In the guides presented in this course, you can find tips on what tool that can be used for a certain activity. We hope that this will help you as you navigate in the digital space.
There are however a few things you should think of.
Connectivity and the capacity of our digital tools
Many universities and teaching institutions are currently migrating parts of their courses to digital form. Our recommendation is that you use simplicity as a meeting strategy where it is possible. For example in a video meeting you can request that only the person speaking turns their video and microphone on and maybe the other participants can voice their opinions or raise questions through the chat function?
The above can also be useful if participants feel a bit insecure in how to use their microphone or camera, so that you can avoid spending a large part of the meeting time dealing with such constraints.
Please note that there is an overarching risk that one or several of our e-meeting tools face connectivity issues. If this happens we recommend that you try using one of the alternative tools recommended. You'll find updated status and capacity page here for the different tools.
Best of luck!
