Introduction (text+video)
Welcome to the refresher course in mathematics!
This course is meant to be taken on your own time in the weeks leading up to the start of the first semester. The total course load is calculated to be 40 hours, however this will vary a lot between students, depending on when and what you did in high school.
As everyones schedule is different (some need to move, some want to participate in novisch activities), there are no scheduled activities. Instead, you have to make your own schedule to make sure that you have time to complete all the modules. On average you should spend about 4 hours per module, but be prepared to spend more, maybe twice that, on the first module.
How do I pass the course?
To pass the course, you need to finish all the quizzes successfully. That's it.
I think I detected an error in some of the course material - what do I do?
If you think you have found a mathematical or technical problem on these course pages, please go to the Emergency Misprint Hotline Links to an external site.. I get an alert whenever anything is written there, and I will try to fix it ASAP.
Do you have any advice for me?
Some of the above information above, and a lot of advice is offered in the following introductory video which discusses the purpose of this course, its structure, how to unlock modules, the study load, time management, study technique, what to do if you are really stuck, and what to do if you encounter errors in the material (this is, after all, the first time this material is used).
Edit: You are allowed to miss 0.5 points in each quiz. That is, if a quiz has a maximum of 6 points, you will unlock the next module by scoring at least 5.5 points. This essentially allows you to miss one half of a question that has a two-part answer.
