Welcome to Lund University and the course Climate and Health in a Global Perspective, 5,0 credits

The course is worth 5 credits and part-time studies (25%). Teaching takes place online with no obligatory meeting on campus. All lectures will be recorded and available on the course page in the learning platform Canvas.

Please read through the below. Summary:

  • After July 25th, activate your Student Account for Lund University and log on to the course page in Canvas.
  • Between 17-24 September, make an online registration for the course in Ladok. Links to an external site.
  • It is strongly recommended that you participate in one of the 30 minute meetings via Zoom that will be held on October 1st at 12.15 pm or at 16.15 pm.

Student Account at Lund University

Your student account will be created a few days after the second admission round to Lund University is completed (after July 24th). You will receive an e-mail from sender, noreply_accountactivation@stu.lu.se, with instructions on how to activate your student account. It is important that you remember to activate your student account. If you have not received instructions on how to activate your student account, please contact LU Service Desk at servicedesk@lu.se or call 046-222 90 00. LU Service Desk phone hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.

Note: if you have been admitted in August or later, you will have to activate your Student Account via https://passport.lu.se/ (click "Activate").

Course page in Canvas

With your student account, which will be created a few days after the second admission (after July 24th), you will be able to log in to the course page on the learning platform in Canvas. First you will have to activate your account (read above under Student Account at Lund University). On the learning platform you will find more information about the course, such as the schedule, the Zoom link for the first meeting, course assignments, and more. We appreciate your patience with questions about the course until you have activated your student account and made an online registration in Ladok. When that is done, you will be able to log in to Canvas. 


Zoom

Zoom is Lund University's digital meeting room. The course is taught online and takes place on Zoom. You need to download the Zoom app to your computer or tablet well in advance of the course start. Be sure to always log in with your student account in the Zoom app and to always download or update the Zoom app so that you can use all functions properly. Here is a student guide for Zoom.


Course syllabus and literature

The main course book will be: Levy, B. S., Patz, J. A., & McStowe, H. L. (Eds.). (2024). Climate change and public health. Oxford University Press. Additional reading material: a small number of academic journal articles and national policies will be distributed on Canvas.

E-mail correspondence

All e-mail correspondence from us will be made to the e-mail address that you have entered in Ladok. It is therefore important that you update your e-mail address in Ladok Links to an external site. to an e-mail address that you actually use.


Online registration and course start

You must register for the course online in Ladok Links to an external site. between 17-24 September. Online registration in Ladok is not the same as accepting your offer at universityadmissions.se. It is only when you register for the course in Ladok Links to an external site. that you formally accept your admission. If you are unable to register in Ladok during the registration period, you must contact the course administrator at kathryn.wellbaum@med.lu.se, as soon as possible to avoid losing your place on the course. It is strongly recommended that you participate in one of the 30 minute meetings via Zoom that will be held on October 1st at 12.15 pm or at 16.15 pm. You can freely choose which one of these meetings you wish to attend.
