Strategies for Learning

Trying to keep up with the rapid progress of in Artificial Intelligence research poses a challenge to students and teachers! AI can be learned at different levels.

At the technical level there is a lot of math the learn, however, this course AI and Psychology, will not focus on that (except for some very basic aspect). However, students that are interested in this may choice to pick literature that emphasizes this more, or choose this as a focus in the project work.

However, AI can also be understood at the conceptual level, where students are expected to verbally describe important mechanism that makes AI work, or not work.

Artificial intelligence (AI) can also be related to Natural intelligence (NI). The course put a lot of effort in this connection between AI and NI. This implies that students are expected to understand psychological phenomena occurring in humans, whether they also can be found in artificial cognition. This includes how the brain can be simulated with computational methods such as neural networks.

AI can also be used as a tool for studying psychology. For example machine learning can be used to analyzed brain data and natural language processing to understand text data.

Moreover, in the lab demonstrations, you will have opportunity to practice your scientific skills and to use the scientific method to derive your own conclusions!

I hope you will enjoy the journey of learning about the AI can be studies from a psychological perspective.
