PSYE60 is an introductory course to human and artificial cognition. During the course, you will learn both about how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to understand human behavior and how psychological phenomena in people can be found in artificial intelligence. Central areas are the borderland between AI and psychology:
- AI and ethics: Risks and opportunities today and in the future
- Abstract, biological, and deep neural networks
- AI to analyze behavior and brain data
- Use of AI in mental health diagnosis and treatment
- Psychological phenomena in artificial cognition
- Natural Language Processing
- Simulating behavior using AI
The course emphasis understanding of how natural cognition can be understood with the help of artificial cognition and how psychological phenomena arise in artificial cognition. Application is made in neural networks, natural language processing, AI-generated images and how AI affects society. The course contains theoretical lectures, laboratory work, and a project work. The course requires no prior knowledge.
At the end of the course, you are expected to have basic knowledge of AI and psychology, as well as an understanding of applications of AI in the field of psychology.
