The ESS accelerator, the most powerful linear accelerator in the world, drives a multi-MW proton beam into the spallation target. One of the main challenges with this process is to estimate the heat load induced by the beam over the large phase space of parameters describing the beam and material properties. The main objective of the master thesis in numerical analysis will be to study and write codes that can bring rapid and trustable answer to the heat problem.

Your task is to implement and analyse the nonlinear heat equation in 2 and 3 dimensions, driven by a periodic source.
