Before your trip

A large part of LU's carbon footprint comes from staff business travel. Follow LU's guidelines and travel as sustainably as possible!

The Sustainability Forum at LU provides clarification of existing frameworks and guidelines, and inspiration for sustainable (business) travel.

Take inspiration from other HT staff who prefer to travel by train, including Lovisa Brännstedt and Elisabet Göransson.

The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) offers general tips on exchange placement for civil servants Links to an external site. (in Swedish), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has useful travel information Links to an external site. (also in Swedish) on its web pages.

Also bear in mind the following:

  • When you travel abroad, you are an ambassador for Lund University and the HT Faculties. Maybe you will get a chance to present your home university? Various presentation material is available here.
  • Take along brochures and other marketing material to give to your host (brief presentation of the HT Faculties in English, list of the HT Faculties' Special Area Study (SAS) courses, etc.). You can get these from the International Office.
  • If you are visiting a university somewhere in Europe, there may be HT students who are currently on an exchange programme there. It might be nice to meet them and hear more about their exchange experience. The International Office knows more and can put you in touch with each other.
  • Take along a gift with the LU logo for your host(s). Feel free to stop by the International Office to pick up a gift of this type.
  • Take the opportunity to reflect on your exchange. The days you spend abroad go by quickly, and there is a lot going on. Perhaps you could keep a diary, or even a blog that can be posted on the HT Faculties' web pages? Contact the International Office!
  • Once you are home again, maybe you would like to share your experiences by becoming a portrait on the HT Faculties' web pages? This is something that is greatly appreciated. Contact the International Office!
