Grading scheme and deadlines
Grades
Home assignments and projects are graded according to the following scheme:
1 point: failed, not acceptable
2 points: poor, needs improvement
3 points: acceptable solution, a pass
4 points: good, mostly complete, with some shortcomings
5 points: excellent
Half-points are also possible in borderline cases. A zero indicates that assignment was not submitted.
Home assignments constitute 50% of the final grade (a non-submitted assignment counts as 0), and the project constitutes another 50%. Students can use the "Grades" section in Canvas to track their total grade status.
Deadlines and resubmissions
- Every teacher will set the deadline of their homework according to their judgement of how much time it is required to complete the homework, typically of the order of one week.
- For homework that received grades 1 or 2, a resubmission is possible.
- Such resubmitted homeworks can be graded at most 4.
- For homework handed in past the deadline (late hand in)
- Late hand-ins can be graded at most 4.
