Sustainable management of organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) is essential to reduce environmental emissions and promote the zero-waste transition. This project is part of an interdisciplinary project, BioCircularR - FORMAS funded - that focuses on developing an innovative circular recovery model and feasible solutions for managing OFMSW in Swedish and Indian cities. Using interdisciplinary approaches to data collection (literature reviews, interviews, and case studies) and analysis tools (Stakeholder analysis, SWOT, and PESTEL), the project will investigate challenges and opportunities to circular management of organic material resources in the OFMSW and evaluate conditions for successfully implementing a roadmap towards achieving the zero-waste and carbon-neutral viable cities, and sustainable development goals. The project is a research collaboration between Indian and Swedish academia and public authorities.
