Test- and development courses / Sandbox

 

When you are learning Canvas or when you are developing a new course, you need to be able to test your ideas. You can easily do that in your own course surface, the surface where there are no students or colleagues connected. Your very own Canvas surface can be called, for example, test course, sandbox or sandbox, and it is a Canvas administrator who can create the surface for you.

Using Canvas function to import course material, you can download things you are happy with from the test course to your actual course.

You can, for example, use your test course to:

• Test things you shouldn't test in your published course
• Develop course material in advance
• Keep your own archive of material you often need to use

GOOD TO KNOW

1. It is not possible to add students to self-created test courses.
2. It is not possible to change the name of self-created test courses (it is not possible with regular courses either)
3. You can make as many test courses as you like
4. You can import material from a test course into a real course the same way that you copy material between course semesters
