Background
The students at the different universities mentioned that it was hard to navigate Canvas. Canvas is a system that allows for great liberties to select the buttons that will be visible in the course navigation, but it becomes confusing for the students when one course differs from the next.
Object
The overview below is thought of as a support for all teachers in a program so that the program’s courses gets a similar structure which helps the students. It is a good idea that you take notes on what you’ve agreed on which items in the course navigation should be visible to the students and in what order. | Assignments | lists all assignments in their respective assignment group |
| Chat | gives the opportunity to chat openly with the whole course, the history is visible for everyone (only teachers can erase specific posts) |
| Collaboration | give the student access to their private Google Drive/Office 365 (the student needs to give their permission in Canvas) |
| Conferences | connection to the videoconference service BigBlueButton (will be replaced with Microsoft Teams for Meetings) |
| Discussions | list all discussions |
| Files | shows all files in alphabetical order or in a folder-structure |
| Google Drive | give the student access to their private Google Drive (the student needs to give their permission in Canvas) |
| Grades | teachers can see the gradebook, students can only see the grades for their own assignments/quizzes |
