About the course
The course is comprised of 2 parts. The first is part time studies during the spring semester (corresponding to 2 weeks full time studies). During this part most of the sessions are scheduled during evenings (18-20). Different themes will be touched upon; pitch talk, scientific writing, journal clubs, project presenting, ethics, statistics, career, scientific writing etc. During the second part (corresponding to 10 weeks full time studies) an independent research project will be performed. The project will be examined by an extended abstract submission and a poster presentation.
Before the research project can be started the student must contact a research group at the Faculty of Medicine where the project can be performed. There must be a supervisor that at least holds an PhD. The student write a project plan according to a template and submit in QPS. The project plan will be assessed by the course committee. The deadline for submission is April 22, 2025.
The education is based on lectures, seminars and the students preparation and presentations.
The students that are accepted to the course will receive a scholarship during the summer (2 months). The Faculty of Medicine will fully finance the scholarship. The student must actively participate in the course during the spring and submit a project plan or the scholarship will be canceled.
Please note that students who are non-EU/EEA citizens must pay tuition fees.
Entry requirements:
To be admitted to the course, students must have 90 credits within their major, a 15 credit independent research project (such as summer stipend) and be a current student at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University.
