Organisation name is shown as University, L. instead of Lund University in the reference

EndNote has rules concerning formatting author names to appear correctly among your references and in the reference list. Each author must appear on a separate line in the Author field of the reference record in EndNote and must follow one of two patterns:

Smith, John

or

John Smith

However, this is a little bit tricky if your author is a company or organization, such as Lund University or the World Health Organization. It is also a problem if the name is considered as an entity, such as the Dalai Lama or Leila K. which needs to be kept in the correct sequence rather than split into surname, first name/initial.

If you just type Lund University in the Author field, EndNote will write it out in your references as follows:

(University, 2023).

And it will place it in your reference list like this:

University, L. (2023).

To fix this, put a comma at the end of the word:

Lund University,

Dalai Lama,

Then it will appear in your text as (Lund University, 2023) and (Dalai Lama, 2016).

EndNote assumes that everything before the comma is the author's surname, and everything after the comma must be the first name. If there is no comma, EndNote assumes that the last word must be the surname and everything before that word must be the first name(s).
