The purpose of this assignment is to study a class of systems known as compartment models, which play an important role in physics, chemistry, biology and pharmacokinetics. You will be exposed to basic concepts and principles of automatic control and systems engineering.

To complete the assignment you will need MATLAB / Simulink.

Under People, you need to join one of the groups "Hand-in 1. XX" (instructions here). You can do the assignment by yourself or in groups of up to three students. Each group is then to solve the assignments provided further below. A pdf file with your solutions then needs to be uploaded here before the deadline.

In order to complete the hand-in you need to be familiar with the contents of lecture 5 and exercise 4.

Report instructions

  • Include contact information of your group in the first (title) page of your report.
  • The target audience is a student with the same background as yourself.
  • Summarize your results (plots, discussion on the results, all equations that you have derived and answers to all questions) CONCISELY in your report.
  • Add your Matlab code at the end of your report as the Appendix.
  • All necessary solutions and plots should be in a self-contained pdf file.
  • It should be possible to understand all the material presented in your report without running any code.
