Submissions - Alternative formats
One way to support students with disability is to open up for submission in a format other than writing. Via Canvas, students can submit in both audio (mp3) and film formats (mp4).
Settings in Assignments
When you create the Assignment you can choose between Text entry (1) and/or File Uploads (2). Both alternatives will give the students’ access to Studio and the alternative to record their answer.
Student view during exam
Text entry (1)
During the exam the student will get access to the text editor and Studio.
When the student click on Spela in/Record (3) they get to choose between microphone and microphone+webcamera. When they finish the exam they give the file a name and save it. After uploading the recording the video will be added to the students Studio library (4).
The students Studio library is private so to submit the exam the student has to click on the video. The window below will be visible for the student. Tell the students that they should accept Tillåt kommentarer/Accept comments (5). The teacher will then be able to add comments directly in the video. The student ends the submission by clicking Bädda in/Enbed (6) and in the next step Submit assignment.
File upload (2)
If you choose File upload (2) as a submission alternative instead of Text entry (1) the student view will be as shown in the image below. The students that has a written submission uploads the file. The students that chooses to record their answers use the Studio tab (7). If the students click on Studio they will get the same windows and steps described above (3-6).
View in SpeedGrader
When you give feedback in SpeedGrader you can do it directly in the movie as comments (8) or as a general for the whole submission (9). One of the most important functions when you work with videos is the possibility to comment at a certain time in the timeline. The comments will be visible as blue small dots on the timeline. The student can scroll down and read the comments or click on a specific blue dot.
